Claire Matthews
“I was never supposed to write fiction – I was originally a researcher.
I trained in geography, then digital mapping. I spent years tracing what some called pseudoscience, ancient alignments, ley lines, geomancy. I always believed there was something beneath the surface. A pattern. But I didn’t know how deep it went until I started tracing the St Michael Line.
The research on the ancient line is common knowledge, with famous sites such as St. Michael’s Mount, Glastonbury Tor, Avebury Henge and the Royston cave etc.. I was completely hooked.
And then came Google Earth. What I found next wasn’t ancient.
Modern research facilities. Military coordinates. Government estates. Even the island that Werner Heisenberg went to while he developed quantum theory (the island will host a conference celebrating 100 years of quantum theory in 2025). These and many other sites sit directly on the line. That’s when the first email came. No name. Just a file. Then another. And another. A contact in Helgoland.
I started compiling what I was given. I wasn’t even writing at first, just logging. But the more I uncovered, the more the story began to write itself. It wasn’t a research project anymore. It was a transmission.
The Line isn’t fiction in the traditional sense. It’s something else. A dramatization, perhaps. A shadow retelling. It’s a story that points to something real.
Whether you believe it is up to you.”
